Lots of drivers talking about leaving if forced to work 12 hour vans. Mainly due to finish times being very late in the evenings. Personally I think 10 hour vans are physical enough . Especially in the summer months or periods of bad weather such as Heavy rain , Strong winds and sleet and snow and freezing temps. Its too demanding .We are not machines where you can replace working parts. Drivers already suffer from lots of work related repetitive strain injuries on shoulders and knees and lower back strains. Drivers of all ages including those in their early 20s.
Also a lot more orders could be coming back as theres no room for any hold ups or errors as the driver will run out of driving hours. So they will need evening pickers to replace these items on the shelves as dotcom wont want to come in to dolly loads of put backs. I wonder what the union have agreed to here because there has been absolutely NO consultation whatsoever with the drivers on this at our place.
