Not sure who you’re directing this at as not sure anyone said anything other than what might happen as at end of day no one actually knew what was happening so was all very hypothetical until the briefings happened to be fair
If it’s anything around Stock Control our manager is on holiday abroad for 2 weeks would they disturb them while on a family holiday they’re only young with a pre school daughter and not long bought a house too doubt their redundancy would be much as only been with company around 4 maybe 5 years
My manager has been told she’s got a briefing this afternoon guessing Union Reps will also get told as that’s usually the case. Atmosphere not great and while the Store Manager was on his call the managers were all in the confidential office and now walking around in small groups very awkwardly
Changes are already done store specific as regards to their banding so a Band A store will have a different structure to a Band D etc. Also majority of changes will have been made via data and trialled in stores across company
All hypothetical as no one really knows what’s on the cards but also it’s that time of year when the business makes changes to move forward and as much as some will say that won’t work etc when looking back to structure now versus say 5 years ago lots have changed and company has survived and probably got stronger..
So saying that
Bakery is probably most at threat as know there were rumours it was going several years ago but for leaks it was pulled and is still a loss maker so can see it now being discarded with company looking at how losing Deli counters have not hurt going forward.Nights would be a good money saver especially with scheduling to skills being re-launched would be easy to implement fill to morning or twilight as already happens in some smaller stores and not sure if discounters run with a night shift so could see Tesco following suit.
Lead Team could see either being streamlined in big stores or going altogether.
Team Supports no reason why can’t lose 4 team supports for 1 or 2 Shift Leaders as this would fit better with the new scheduler for skills rollout and make it easier as shift leads would be making decisions for the whole store rather than just front end.
Lastly Stock Control which isn’t included in the schedule for skills as not part of Serve, Pick or Fill so could be broken up where Fresh deals with own counts, gap Scan & merchandising same for Grocery & Non Food while Service managers would gain Price Integrity, Cash & Admin. Again this would make sense as trading managers then own everything to achieve their jobs and all their colleagues would be trained to do filling, waste, reductions, counts etc after all they’ve recently gained reductions and wages so all ready moving towards this model
