So my lead manager thinks F&F managers will return in Extras and Stock and Admin will be merged onto the non food managers duties. Which probably makes sense because if non food manager lose F&F that only gives them about 7/8 staff. I think my extra only has 6 on non food currently so without F&F the manager here would have next to no one while the front end manager has 48!
So think that means Stock and admin manager going?
Haven’t Asda just announced similar. We do often follow them
So F&F managers returning isn’t an increase in managers, it just seems like a one in one out with Stock manager being the potential casualty. That to be me suggests its more of a move about. No redundancy.
Can’t be long either, usually next week isn’t it when managers get told.
Trials are usually a good indication of what is going on.
So what do we know of?
There’s the F&F managers being brought back
There’s Admin colleagues being stream lined and Line Managers now being responsible for their own tasks
Anything else?
Admin Colleagues feel most at risk for me purely because its all on the app now. The App has done them out of a job.
Apart from inductions what do they now do? even then inductions only take place in extras. All smaller stores you do it online before your first shift! so that seems like an obvious free up of hours. They don’t even have anything to do with recruitment now do they?
The F&F one is interesting because if a manager is coming back will they also bring back fitting rooms? I know one store in our group has been trailing fitting rooms again but that would mean about 40 extra hours a week. Where is that coming from?
So yeah Admin seems like the only realistic place they can make changes because every other department are on the bare bones. So why have an admin sitting in the office doing very little when they could be picking dotcom trollies or manning F&F fitting rooms..
Thats a really good point about Scheduling to Skills and nights. There is logic in moving some to mornings and some to Twilights if you factor that in. I can’t speak for other stores but it never worked in ours because we just didn’t have enough bodies on the floor for the moving around to work as intended. Moving grocery nights to days/twilights however sorts that issue.
I agree Fresh would probably need to stay on nights for delivery issues but I don’t see why Grocery and H&B need to.

I wonder if there’s a chance the Bakeries might go.
The past 3 years we have had a fairly good idea of what would be announced but this year nothing has really leaked other than the guess its management but what if it isn’t?
oh an I agree completely about Dotcom!! ours is a shambles. If any department needs a restructure overhaul it is them. That is where all the money is wasted.
My Extra has 5 Team Support. The reality is we don’t need them. I can see the logic in getting rid and replacing with a shift leader. Then all you need is a few off tills to do the running and savings are made. That seems more obvious if they are wanting to claw back money. Our Stock and Admin manager also does next to nothing, thats another role there is no need for anymore so merging his staff into Non Food just seems sensible.
