Can’t be long either, usually next week isn’t it when managers get told.
16/01/2026 at 2:18 pm #583Wednesday 28th should expect announcement
16/01/2026 at 4:45 pm #585Is there any changes happening in the phone shops this year?
16/01/2026 at 5:15 pm #586Are you in the know Claire 99 or just a guess?
17/01/2026 at 11:16 am #606So my lead manager thinks F&F managers will return in Extras and Stock and Admin will be merged onto the non food managers duties. Which probably makes sense because if non food manager lose F&F that only gives them about 7/8 staff. I think my extra only has 6 on non food currently so without F&F the manager here would have next to no one while the front end manager has 48!
So think that means Stock and admin manager going?
Haven’t Asda just announced similar. We do often follow them
So F&F managers returning isn’t an increase in managers, it just seems like a one in one out with Stock manager being the potential casualty. That to be me suggests its more of a move about. No redundancy.
19/01/2026 at 4:39 pm #607Any news on night shifts going to evening fill?
19/01/2026 at 4:51 pm #608Don’t know why they are bothering it’s not working in our store Christmas was horrendous had more agency than staff
19/01/2026 at 4:57 pm #609Surely they can’t make cuts this year, there’s just no staff.
Admin probably is the only thing they could get rid of at this point. Anywhere else and the stores won’t have anyone filling shelves. All we do in ours thesedays is pick on dotcom. Customers are forever complaining about the shelves being empty.
20/01/2026 at 8:53 am #610There are twilight fill trials going on in some stores. Also, other stores are trialing ‘wave 2’ grocery, whereby some of the grocery delivery is filled 1-5pm the following day.
20/01/2026 at 8:55 am #611Theres definitely something going on, hence why nobody was allowed to keep any of the Xmas temps this year……..
20/01/2026 at 8:56 am #612All Store Managers are on a conference call on 27th, so Claire99 is very probably right regarding finding out on 28th.
20/01/2026 at 8:57 am #613Grocery filling 1 – 5pm in Extra is a must do imho. Dotcom gut ours so by early evening the shelves are almost bare but there’s no one in to restock so customers come in after 5pm to shop and theres not much there. You can’t run a store like this long term.
I wonder if the bakers are safe. If they are cutting again where can they realistically cut?
Unless they are reducing managers again. I just can’t see where from the shop floor they can reduce staff. There’s only admin you could get away with ditching, like said the app does it all now.
20/01/2026 at 9:02 am #614Checkout Superstar – 💯 agree that many stores need some afternoon fill. But the designated wave 2 cages are also being trialled in small superstores. Anything to try and pay a bit less night premium……
20/01/2026 at 9:52 am #615Asda is dropping 150 managers mainly from stock control.
Tesco often follow their lead.
20/01/2026 at 5:48 pm #616They normally do, difference is this year, asda profits from Christmas fell, as tesco hasn’t.
